Join us on May 4th for an important webinar hostedby Andria Yu, director of media relations at the Motorcycle Industry Council,and Ty van Hooydonk, senior editor at the MIC, as they introduce webinarparticipants to important guidelines and best practices to follow when dealingwith the media. OHV leaders are oftenapproached by local newspapers, websites, blogs, radio stations and other mediato weigh in on important issues. Andriaand Ty have decades of experience in working with the media and will begin tohelp participants understand how, when, and why to comment on the record – andhow to be prepared to deliver the appropriate message.

Primary Presenters include:

Andria Yu, Director, Communications,Motorcycles.org – Andria worked in journalism for 18 years before joining theMotorcycle Industry Council in 2016. Just before joining the industry, Andriawas the front page editor at USA Today, and prior to that, she worked at TheBaltimore Sun and Newsday in New York. Andria, who started riding in 2001,earned her Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCoach certification in 2017 andhas been teaching public classes in Maryland. She also hosts MSF BasicRiderCourse classes and DirtBike School classes for media and influencers fromcoast to coast. Andria has appeared on several live TV news shows to talk aboutmotorcycling and motorcycle safety, and has been interviewed by dozens of reportersfor magazines, newspapers, and even podcasts.

Ty van Hooydonk, Senior Editor, Motorcycles.org –After editorial positions at Cycle News and Cycle magazine, Ty van Hooydonkstarted his career in media relations in 1992, working for the world’s largestPR firm before moving on to the biggest agency in Orange County, California. Heserved as Suzuki’s mainstream media agency executive for 10 years and conductedmany media training sessions for the manufacturer’s motocross and road racingefforts – working with riders including Jeremy McGrath and Kevin Schwantz. Hejoined the Motorcycle Industry Council in 2001, eventually serving as vicepresident, communications, for five years. He’s been riding for more than 50years, is an MSF DirtBike School coach, ASI instructor, and ROHVA DriverCoach.He has been interviewed by mainstream media hundreds of times, including dozensof live TV news appearances.
