The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council will be partnering with the Society for Outdoor Recreation Professionals and Carson City Parks, Recreation, & Open Space to deliver a webinar on trails as a climate resilient infrastructure utilizing Prison Hill Recreation Area as a case study. This webinar will be held on August 14, 2024 at 12:00pm Pacific Time.
Prison Hill Recreation Area, managed by Carson City Parks Recreation and Open Space is approximately 1900 acres located within city limits. The southern half of the recreation area is open to motorized use while the northern half is managed for non-motorized use. NOHVCC assisted the city with the development and implementation of a management plan and trails plan to improve recreational access and protect the natural resources found in the southern portion of the recreation area. Since work began Prison Hill has received recognition from Federal Highways Administration as well as other organizations for improving resource protection while enhancing recreational access. Join the webinar to learn about what steps have been taken to make Prison Hill a world class recreation destination planned with climate, use type, and use volume in mind.
