Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Releases 2nd Edition of Their Rural Economic Development Toolkit – NOHVCC

The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) is the leading business coalition advancing a sustainable and growing outdoor recreation economy for the benefit of all Americans. ORR is made up of outdoor recreation groups representing motorized and nonmotorized interests. You can find out more about the organization by visiting www.recreationroundtable.org.

Recently ORR released the second edition of their Rural Economic Development Toolkit. The toolkit is designed to help advocates within communities across the United States build better outdoor recreation economies. This resource is a biproduct of extensive research including case studies, collection of best practices, tools, and advice from over 80 local practitioners.

The 2nd edition reflects the amazing growth of the outdoor recreation economy during the pandemic. It shows that in 2021-2022 the outdoor recreation economy grew 2.5 times faster than the US economy as a whole. ORR kicked off the 2nd edition of the toolkit with a webinar which was attended by NOHVCC staff and many other organizations. You can view a recording of the webinar here.

Outdoor recreation has shown itself to be a big business that can be a positive economic driver for local communities. This toolkit paired with sustainably designed and constructed trails like those discussed in NOHVCC’s Great Trails Guidebook can be a huge benefit to your local community. This toolkit is absolutely free so check it out today if you are looking for ways to gain support for OHV recreation or other outdoor recreational pursuits in your rural community. Make sure to check out the many other great resources on their website while you are there.

Thank you to the ORR for producing the toolkit and other resources to support healthy and vibrant outdoor recreation economies.
