Alabama Great Trails Workshop – December 7-8, 2022 – Buck’s Pocket State Park

Thanks to a generous grant from the Fox Factory Trail Trust program and the support of the Alabama State Parks Division, the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council will be holding a Great Trails Workshop. This workshop will be focused on the development of sustainable OHV trails and trail partnerships.

When: December 7-8, 2022

Where: Buck’s Pocket State Park

Participants will need:

• An OHV to access the trails
• Helmet, goggles/glasses, over the ankle boots, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, and gloves for the ride day
• Long pants, hiking boots, and pack for the trail layout day
• Lunches, water, snacks, and anything else needed for the field

This two-day training will consist of two hands-on field sessions including trail layout and design. Participants will be required to provide their own transportation to the field sessions.  Participants will need to provide their own lunches, water, snacks, sunblock, sturdy hiking boots, and other provisions for two days of field work.

The field session will involve riding an OHV to several destinations along the trail system. Each participant is responsible for providing their own vehicle or making arrangements to ride with another class participant. Passengers shall only be allowed on vehicles designed for such use (ROV, UTV, two-up ATV). All participants in the field session must wear appropriate safety gear including helmets, goggles, over the ankle boots, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and gloves. Anyone not wearing appropriate safety gear will not be allowed to participate in the workshop.

Deposits are the sum of one night’s lodging plus taxes and are due at the time the reservation is made.
