2019 Oregon Off-Highway Vehicle Great Trails Workshop – Medford

The Oregon Parks & Recreation Department (OPRD) in conjunction with the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) and the Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA) will conduct an OHV trails workshop in Medford, OR on May 7- May 9, 2019. The 3-day workshop will consist of classroom sessions on May 7, at the Inn at The Commons Hotel and Convention Center in downtown Medford, and field sessions on May 8-9 at the Lily Prairie riding area. Field sessions will involve walking to various sites on the trail system so bring your best hiking shoes, appropriate clothing, and drinking water.

Registration is free, until 5:00 PM MST on April 23. The number of participants is limited, so register early. If you have problems registering, please contact our office at trailhead@nohvcc.org or call us at 800-348-6487.
Oregon OHV land managers and members of Oregon-based organizations will be given registration priority.
Attendees must provide their own transportation to the Tuesday classroom session unless staying at the Inn at The Commons, and to the Wednesday and Thursday field sessions. Discounted and government per diem rates are available at the Inn at The Commons.
Field sessions will include walking to multiple trail sites so bring your best hiking shoes, water, snacks, and other necessary gear.

The workshop will focus on OHV trail maintenance, rehabilitation, improvement and relocation. Hands-on field training will be emphasized. The intended audience is trail managers; trail construction and maintenance supervisors and crews, engineering staff involved in trail planning, design, maintenance and construction; trail contractors, and trail volunteers.

· Trail Management Objectives – how they apply to trail maintenance
· Creative trail design and innovative engineering practices
· Trail maintenance techniques specific to various trail uses and conditions
· Trail reroutes
· How to create a trail management objective (TMO) document
· Small group problem solving exercises

· Trail design considerations for different types of OHV
