BLM Recently Released Engaging With Communities in Public Land Stewardship: A Toolkit for Building and Sustaining Effective BLM Partnerships With Friends Groups – NOHVCC

During the Covid-19 pandemic, NOHVCC will continue to monitor how OHV recreation is impacted by stay-at-home orders and other suggestions from governmental entities, but we will also strive to keep you informed about other ongoing initiatives, projects, tools or news related to our sport.

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) has created a COVID-19 update webpage which includes information on the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a state resource map, industry updates and resources, and more. MIC intends to update this page throughout the pandemic. Visit the site here.

From a March 23, 2020 BLM Announcement:

We are pleased to announce the availability of a new resource to support the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) partnership efforts: Engaging with Communities in Public Land Stewardship: A Toolkit for Building and Sustaining Effective BLM Partnerships with Friends Groups.

The national network of community-based friends groups provide support and services to BLM sites, facilities, and programs. Friends groups are a vital link to communities and help the BLM provide measurable benefits to public lands and the visitors who enjoy them.

The toolkit addresses common partnership challenges; highlights successful partnerships; and provides guidance, tools and best practices to help establish and sustain success in these important local relationships. BLM site and program managers, program leads, and other employees developing or improving a partnership with a friends group are encouraged to download and use the toolkit. The toolkit can be downloaded at: https://www.blm.gov/PartnershipToolkit.

If you have questions about the toolkit, please contact Trevor Needham, National Partnerships Program Lead, Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships (WO-420), at 202-912-7097, or [email protected].
