Please read the information from Kim Frederick below. Kim is working in partnership with American Trails to host the Nevada Regional Trails Training Program. NOHVCC Program Director, Marc Hildesheim took part in some previous training and said, “I participated in the Trail Maintenance Management and the Trail Crew Leader training offerings earlier this week. I found both sessions to be extremely informative and valuable. Kim has an open flowing discussion format to his teaching that keeps you engaged through the entire session. I highly recommend these two sessions for clubs, volunteers, and land managers who participate in trail management.”
NEVADA REGIONAL TRAILS TRAINING PROGRAM
What it is the RTTP?
American Trails is partnering with Nevada State Parks and Chinook Associates to develop the Nevada Regional Trails Training Program (RTTP). The RTTP is all about bringing trail related skill trainings (design, construction, maintenance, etc.) and program development workshops (crew leader, adopt-a-trail, maintenance mgt., etc.) to an area near you. Follow these links if you would like to read the RTTP Concept Letter or check out the Frequently Asked Questions we have compiled associated with the RTTP. After piloting a series of workshops in the spring around Reno we have coordinated with agencies and organizations in Elko and Lincoln County areas for trainings to occur during the last week of July (Elko County Area) and the first week of August (Lincoln County Area). Additionally, there is a series of online workshops that have been created that are ongoing.
How are the workshops structured?
The workshops range in duration from 1-hour to all-day. They occur online using the Zoom platform, in a classroom environment and out on the trail with tools in hand! To review a description of the classes developed to date check out the Nevada Regional Trail Training Catalogue. A schedule of the classes currently scheduled for the Elko and Lincoln County areas is attached. On the schedule, the date associated with each class is a link to additional information about the class and the online registration process.
What is the cost?
Costs are kept low through a grant from the Nevada State Parks Recreational Trail Program. The fees range from $10.00 for a two-hour online workshop to $25.00 for an all-day field workshop. Scholarships are available, don’t let cost stop you from registering.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me via email, cell phone or text. Thanks for your time, I hope to see you in a workshop soon!
Happy Trails!
