2017 Annual NOHVCC and INOHVAA Joint Conference - August 22 - 27

As time marches on and we get closer to the 2017 conference, we will have more and more details for you.  We are busy thinking of some creative twists for the conference.  And, of course, the mobile workshop opportunities are plentiful. The conference topics will be informative and fun.  The INOHVAA annual meeting and round table will again take place.  Our main goal: to make this the best conference yet and a "can't miss" opportunity for you.

Below is some information that we currently know about this year's conference:

The Theme for the conference is Forward Momentum.  Together, we have achieved successes over the past couple of decades.  We want to keep the progress going forward and position ourselves for even more success in the future.

Russ Ehnes is saying goodbye as NOHVCC Executive Director.  Fortunately, or unfortunately for him, we had already assigned some duties for this year's conference to him before he announced his resignation.  We will bring him to this conference and put him to work, at least part-time, for this conference.

We will have a new Executive Director to introduce, or re-introduce with a new title.  Duane Taylor has agreed to come over to NOHVCC from the Motorcycle Industry Council/Specialty Vehicle Institute of America/Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association.  Help us to welcome Duane to his first conference as the NOHVCC ED.

The mobile workshop will be at the Hopkinton-Everett Trails Area.  This area is part of an Army Corps of Engineers flood control program area.  This will be the first time the mobile workshop is on Army Corps of Engineer property.

We have a planning team in the northeast that is actively looking for ways to make this a great conference and who are looking to welcome you to their States.

Program Manager of the Year Award

Each year at its annual conference the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) honors one OHV program manager who has shown an exemplary dedication to providing for motorized recreation or who has spent years working toward an OHV success story. Awardees must work for a government program involved in OHV management. All local, state, and federal employees are eligible for this award. In 2017 NOHVCC has chosen to remember a close friend that was lost earlier this year by renaming the Program Manager of the Year Award to the "Rob Perrin Program Manager of the Year Award."

Rob Perrin was a long-time employee of the BLM and a very important partner to NOHVCC. In recent years, Rob has been the driving force behind the successful BLM National Motorized Recreation Strategy. NOHVCC has had the privilege of contributing information gathered from the public to statewide OHV Recreation Action Plans that fall under the umbrella of this national project. Rob was equally driven to provide quality recreation experiences for all user types, but never failed to ensure that OHV recreation was given a seat at the table. "Rob exemplified what a Program Manager should strive to be and set a great example for other managers to follow" said Duane Taylor, NOHVCC Executive Director. NOHVCC is proud to have known Rob and to be able to honor him in this way. NOHVCC is privileged to be a partner in developing a National Motorized Recreation Strategy and will continue to pursue this project with the dedication to quality recreation opportunities for which Rob was known.

At NOHVCC's annual conference in Manchester, New Hampshire August 22-27, 2017, NOHVCC will present the Rob Perrin Program Manager of the Year award to a deserving manager. There will also be an opportunity for those assembled to share stories of their experiences working with Rob and the successes that they achieved together.
